PRESS RELEASE
11-04-2008
In early morning of 9th April 2008 the Iranian regime executed two
religious teachers in Dozaap (Zahedan) in Balochistan capital; the two
Baloch, Moulavi Mohammad Yousuf Sohrabi and Moulavi Abdul Qoddoos
Mollazehi were forced to confession of guilt on television. The
Iranian regime broadcast their false confessions in three successive
nights to justify this execution.
These religious teachers had been arrested in December 2007 in city of
Pahra (Iransharh) in southern Balochistan on the basis of their
religious beliefs. The regime accused them of cooperating with
People's Resistance Movement of Iran (PRMI), foreign countries and
shedding the blood of Persian Shia nation in Iran. While it’s widely
known that it is this Shia regime who committing atrocities against
Baloch and other Sunni population of Iran.
Some significant examples of
anti-Sunni measures in Iran.
- Systematic massacre of Sunni clerics
- Regularly broadcasting anti-Sunni film, news and publishing book
- Baloch and other Sunni constitutionally excluded from all high
government positions (Article 115 of Islamic Republic of Iran
Constitution)
- Not only does Tehran and other major Iranian cities remain without a
Sunni mosque, but after the 1978-1979 revolution Sunni mosques in
Mashhad, Salmas, and Shahinzadeh were destroyed, and those in Shiraz,
Orumieh, Sanadaj, Saqqez, and Miyandoab were closed.
Balochistan Peoples Party strongly condemns the inhuman action of the
Shia regime of Iran against Baloch nation and other religious
minorities. We appeal to human rights organizations and the
international community to pressurize the Iranian fundamentalist
regime to stop harassing, intimidating, arresting and killing of
religious leaders.
