Watch "The Most Wanted Man in Iran"

19-07-2007

Dan Rather Reports presents an in-depth look into reports that the CIA may be seeking to destabilize the Iranian Government.

In his first-ever television interview, Abdulmalik Rigi, a guerrilla leader from Iran's volatile southeast, speaks out and brags of killing "cowardly" Iranian soldiers.

Sometimes referred to as "Iran's Most Wanted Man" Rigi calls for a "United States of Iran," and with his young band of Sunni fighters he is seeking to spark a national uprising against the present government of the Shia-dominated Islamic Republic. In reporting this episode, DAN RATHER REPORTS traveled to Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden and Paris to investigate Rigi's funding sources and his possible ties to U.S. intelligence.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dallas (July 10, 2007) - Tonight's episode of DAN RATHER REPORTS leads with an exclusive interview with Iran's most wanted terrorist and confronts allegations that he is being funded by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

Before this evening's show has even aired, HDNet's flagship news program faced criticism from a government spokesman in Tehran Monday.

The Foreign Ministry official accused the US network of bowing to pressure from the Bush administration. This was dismissed as, "absurd" by Executive Producer Wayne Nelson. "We're not in the business of pandering to any government, U.S. or Iranian," Nelson said. "If the Iranians are willing to criticize our subject matter before viewing the show, then I think that says it all."
