QUETTA - Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has said three officials of the US Consulate Karachi have been arrested for travelling in a vehicle having a fake number plate.
“These employees were travelling in Gwadar area without prior permission from the provincial Home Department,” CM Raisani told newsmen after the session of the Balochistan Assembly on Saturday.
On a question, he said the three employees of the US Consulate were travelling in a vehicle with a fake number plate and the Gwadar police nabbed them and were being interrogated.
He said the arrested employees should have informed the Balochistan Home Department prior to their visit to the province.
“They were not common people but were employees of a consulate of a foreign country. Under the diplomatic code, they should have informed the authorities concerned before their visit to Gwadar,” he said, adding that besides this, the number plate of their vehicle was also fake.
Responding to another question about an agreement regarding Gwadar Port with Singapore Port Authority, the Chief Minister said this accord was inked by the previous government and it was against the interests of Balochistan as well as its people.
He said the Balochistan government wanted its cancellation and it had formally requested the Federal government in this regard.
“The Federal government has directed the law department to look into the matter,” he said, hoping that the agreement with Singapore Port Authority would be cancelled.
Raisani said there were no differences among the coalition partners in provincial government and all the affairs were being run amicably.
